About Potter’s Ravine Park

Potter’s Ravine Park is located in El Dorado County, California, near the town of El Dorado Hills. The park spans a diverse landscape dominated by hardwood forests, including blue oak, valley oak, and interior live oak, as well as foothill grasslands and seasonal creeks. Historically, the region was inhabited by the Nisenan people before European settlers arrived in the 19th century. Today, the park serves as a habitat for a variety of California wildlife species such as mule deer, black-tailed rabbits, wild turkeys, and numerous bird species including red-tailed hawks and western bluebirds. Potter’s Ravine Park features several miles of multi-use trails suitable for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking, which wind through shaded ravines and open meadows. The park’s topography includes gentle slopes and creek valleys, creating peaceful day-use picnic areas near Potter’s Ravine Creek. Notable landmarks include the woodland groves and seasonal wetland areas that bloom with wildflowers in spring.
